Common questions
Buying a used car in Phoenix
Straight answers to what people actually ask us.
- Where is 249 Auto located?
- 249 Auto is located at 2625 E. Greenway Pkwy #265, Phoenix, AZ 85032, serving Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Peoria, and Chandler. Vehicles are shown by appointment — call or text 623-777-8649 and we will have the car ready when you arrive.
- Do you offer financing?
- No — we sell vehicles outright and do not arrange financing. Plenty of our customers arrange their own loan through a bank or credit union before they buy, which also means you walk in knowing your budget. Bring the approval and we will work with it.
- Do you take trade-ins?
- No, we do not accept trade-ins. If you need to sell your current vehicle, you will need to do that separately before or after buying from us.
- How do I see a vehicle in person?
- Call or text 623-777-8649, or use the test drive form and pick the vehicle you want to see. Vehicles are shown by appointment, so let us know when suits you and we will have the car cleaned and ready.
- What kinds of used vehicles do you carry?
- Our inventory rotates, but we regularly stock used SUVs, trucks, sedans, hatchbacks, hybrids, and electric vehicles across a wide range of price points. Browse the current inventory online, which updates as cars arrive and sell.
- Can I see a vehicle history report and service records?
- Yes — ask and we will send them over. We would rather you buy with full information than discover something later.
- Do I need an emissions test to register a used car in Phoenix?
- Maricopa County requires emissions testing for many vehicles, and whether yours applies depends on its model year, fuel type, and where you live. Newer vehicles are generally exempt for their first several years. Because the rules change, confirm your specific vehicle with ADEQ or the Arizona MVD rather than relying on a general answer.
- Are used cars from Arizona in better condition?
- Often, in one important respect: Arizona uses no road salt, so undercarriages, brake lines, and rocker panels on local vehicles are typically far cleaner than equivalent cars from the Midwest or Northeast, where corrosion is a genuine structural concern. The trade-off is heat — sustained Phoenix summers are hard on batteries, tyres, belts, hoses, paint, and dashboards. A local car is usually a better body and a harder-worked cooling system.
- How many miles is too many on a used car?
- Mileage matters less than how the miles were accumulated and whether the vehicle was maintained. A 90,000-mile highway commuter with complete service records is frequently a better buy than a 50,000-mile car that was neglected. Ask for the service history and a vehicle history report on any car you are considering — we will send both.
- Can I have a used car inspected by my own mechanic?
- Yes, and we encourage it. A pre-purchase inspection costs around a hundred dollars and is the cheapest insurance available on a used-car purchase. Arrange it and we will make the vehicle available.
- What do I need to bring to buy a car?
- A valid driver's licence, proof of insurance, and your method of payment. If you are arranging your own financing, bring the approval or a cheque from your bank or credit union.
- Do you deliver vehicles?
- Contact us to ask. We are based in Phoenix and serve buyers across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale and the wider Valley, so it depends on the vehicle and the distance.
